Following Marvel Animation's New York Comic Con panel, fans were treated to a glimpse of the upcoming season, and it's safe to say that the action and story details will keep you on the edge of your seat. But here's where it gets controversial...
While Marvel Television unveiled several trailers at the panel, only one has been officially released so far - the intriguing Wonder Man trailer. Security was tight, but the X-Men '97 Season 2 trailer managed to escape and find its way to the internet.
In this exclusive bootleg copy, we pick up where Season 1 left off, with the mutant team scattered across time. Wolverine and Morph have seemingly formed an alliance with Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike in the present, while other fan favorites like Polaris, Danger, and X-Factor make an appearance.
And this is the part most people miss - the trailer also gives us a good look at Apocalypse, who is set to be the primary antagonist of Season 2. Cyclops and Jean Grey sport costumes reminiscent of their 2000s looks from Grant Morrison's New X-Men, adding a nostalgic touch.
One of the most intriguing aspects of this season is the change in leadership. Beau DeMayo, the former Head Writer/showrunner, has stepped down, but his ideas have reportedly influenced Season 2.
